Solar irrigation transforms lives in Uganda

In Karamoja, Uganda, farmers’ lives have been changed by their new solar-powered micro-irrigation system, funded by the Eurofins Foundation and the Evan Cornish Foundation in partnership with Farm Africa and Care International. Before, families struggled to grow enough food due to the long treks to fetch water and dried up water sources. Now, the new irrigation system has opened up new opportunities to improve productivity, especially for women. Families can grow vegetables all year round, boosting their nutrition and increasing household incomes.
