At Farm Africa, we believe agriculture can be a force for environmental restoration, climate resilience and economic opportunity. For more than 40 years, we have worked with farmers, communities, businesses and governments across eastern Africa to build sustainable food systems that benefit both people and planet. Today, our work reaches hundreds of thousands of people each year and generates lasting change in some of the regions most affected by poverty, food insecurity and climate change.

Now, as we prepare to launch an ambitious new strategy, we are seeking a Philanthropic Leader Trustee to help us unlock the next phase of our growth.

This is not a traditional fundraising role.

We are looking for someone with the credibility, networks and influence to open doors to transformational philanthropic relationships. Someone whose professional success has connected them to individuals, families, foundations or advisers capable of making significant investments in causes they care deeply about.

You may come from financial services, professional services, private wealth, family offices, entrepreneurship or another sector where trusted relationships matter. What is most important is that you have built a network of senior decision-makers and philanthropists, and that Farm Africa’s mission resonates with you personally.

As a Trustee, you will play a unique role in helping Farm Africa:

• Build relationships with major philanthropists and influential networks
• Host and support exclusive cultivation events and dinners
• Act as an ambassador for our work among senior leaders and potential supporters
• Provide strategic insight on engaging high-value donors
• Contribute to the governance and strategic direction of a leading international development organisation

Who we’re looking for

We’re interested in speaking with people who bring:

• A significant senior network that includes individuals with the capacity for major philanthropic giving
• A genuine passion for one or more of our core themes: agriculture, climate, food systems, poverty alleviation, biodiversity, gender equity or sustainable development
• Confidence in convening people and creating meaningful introductions
• An interest in philanthropy and the role it can play in solving some of the world’s most pressing challenges
• A willingness to contribute to the governance and strategic oversight of Farm Africa as a Trustee

Time commitment

Approximately 10 days per year, including quarterly Board meetings, cultivation events and occasional donor engagement activities.
