Join Michael Palin, Minette Batters, Will Evans, Ally Hunter Blair and the London African Gospel Choir at the Farm Africa Virtual Carol Concert
Farm Africa has announced its annual carol concert will take place virtually from 7pm on Wednesday 15 December 2021.
The concert will feature a range of personalities from the British farming community including host for the evening, farmer and Farm Africa supporter, Will Evans. Viewers will be treated to readings by the charity’s patron Michael Palin, National Farmers’ Union (NFU) President, Minette Batters, and farmer and star of ‘Born Mucky – Life on the farm’, Ally Hunter Blair, as well as a selection of carols sung by the London African Gospel Choir and the Sandra Scott Singing Ensemble.
The concert is free to attend, but there will be opportunities to make donations to Farm Africa including entering a prize draw. Funds raised will support the charity’s work helping farming families across eastern Africa to improve their sustainable agricultural practices, strengthen their links to markets and protect the environment for generations to come.
Minette Batters commented, “I’m absolutely delighted to be taking part in Farm Africa’s virtual carol concert. It’s going to be an absolutely fantastic evening. Please do not miss it!”
Will Evans added, “I was delighted to be asked to present this concert. Farm Africa is a charity very close to my heart. As a farmer myself, I know just how hard it is to grow food in an ever-changing climate. In eastern Africa climate change is hitting hard with farmers there facing devastating flooding or extending drought, and sometimes both in the same year.”
Dan Collison, Chief Executive at Farm Africa, commented: “Farmers across eastern Africa are facing unprecedented challenges. The virtual carol concert offers an opportunity to not only enjoy a festive evening from the comfort of your own home but to help provide farmers in eastern Africa with the knowledge and tools they need to build stronger, sustainable businesses that can thrive, even during a crisis.”
