Tools and training in Southern Sudan
In the past few months over 900 agricultural tools have been distributed in eight districts of Southern Sudan. But it isn’t just tools – we have also established 12 demonstration plots to enable rural farmers to learn and implement more efficient agricultural techniques. Farm Africa has also trained 16 community members to teach others how to plough their fields using oxen.
Over the coming months, the 480 farmers involved in the project will receive additional practical training at the demonstration plots, as well as some high quality seeds – giving them the best possible chance of a healthy harvest this year.
The good news doesn’t end there. Plans are in place to establish ten new water points and we are in the early stages of training two new community animal health workers in each district. Five village savings groups have been established and four more are in the pipeline – members will be receiving training and help to establish new enterprises.
