Get resources"When Farm Africa came to Babati, they chose eight livestock keepers to join the project and I was one of them. I felt nervous – I didn’t know if I would be able to learn what they taught me. I learnt to plan how many goats I would breed, how many I would sell and I learnt about record keeping. I also learnt how keeping goats could benefit my farming, for example by using manure to improve the soil. My life has changed massively thanks to Farm Africa."

Fundraising ideas
Whether you choose to have a Farm Africa collection during your harvest service, hold a harvest lunch or even organise a sponsored walk (those of you who know our famous welly walks will understand!), every pound you raise will help farmers to transform their lives.
Service collection
A collection during or after a service is a simple idea that your congregation will be familiar with. Why not use our service ideas below to theme your service around Farm Africa’s work and inspire everyone to donate?
The Farm Africa twist: Pass round an African bowl or basket, or perhaps even a farmer’s welly instead of the traditional collection plate.
Cake sale
Who doesn’t love cake? A cake sale is always sure to go down well and it’s amazing how much flour power can raise. You could have a simple sale after church one Sunday, or plan a special event, perhaps combined with a coffee morning or community sale on a Saturday. Make sure you give potential bakers plenty of notice and remember not to undersell their hard work!
The Farm Africa twist:Â Make some cakes and sweet treats using the crops grown by our farmers.
Give it up
A common fundraising idea at Lent, this idea can also work well at any other time of the year too. Challenge members of your congregation to raise sponsorship in return for giving up their favourite food or drink for a set amount of time. Chocolate, coffee or cake are always high on people’s lists for what they would give up. What will it be in your church?
The Farm Africa twist: Take the challenge to the next level and see if your congregation could live below the poverty line for five days. In those five days, each person spends just £2 a day on all their food and drink. Tougher than it sounds, and a truly eye-opening way to see just how important Farm Africa’s work is for farmers who live on less than £2 a day.
