Growing impact of Tanzanian schools project

Our work with schools in Tanzania’s Manyara region is continuing to go from strength to strength. Demonstration plots have been established at all 24 schools where Farm Africa’s ‘Discovery Learning’ approach is being used to teach school children practical farming skills. As a result almost 7,500 children are using what they have learnt at school to improve farming practices at home.
It isn’t just the pupils at our target schools who are benefiting though.  Across the region, ten teacher trainers have been hard at work and as a result 215 out of the 239 primary schools in the project area are now adopting discovery learning techniques.  In the past few months, Farm Africa has developed and printed two text books about cattle and poultry keeping.  And over the coming months classroom posters covering topics such as maize and bean planting, and growing fruits and vegetables will be printed to help teachers who are using discovery learning in their classrooms.
