In 2021, Minette was made a Deputy Lieutenant to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Following the nomination, Minette will be made a Baroness and sit as a crossbench peer, after she has been sworn into the House of Lords.

Crossbench peers are non-party political and by tradition sit on the benches that cross the chamber of the House of Lords.

Minette served as President of the NFU until February 2024 and runs a tenanted family farm in Wiltshire.

"This is richly deserved recognition."

Dan Collison

Farm Africa Chief Executive

Farm Africa Chief Executive, Dan Collison, said, “This is richly deserved recognition for the role that Minette plays in our public life, including her commitment to the lives and livelihoods of farmers outside the UK. We are honoured to have her as a Farm Africa ambassador.”

Through her long-standing support of farmers in eastern Africa, Minette has taken on many activities for Farm Africa, from running the London marathon twice, to celebrating International Women’s Day with a farmer to farmer conversation and speaking at a wide range of Farm Africa events.

Later this year, Minette will be visiting our work in Embu County in Kenya with a group of female leaders from the UK food and farming sector.
