Mount Elgon Challenge 2018

This January, 13 leading food industry experts will leave the UK to face a gruelling seven-day hike up and across Mount Elgon, an extinct volcano that straddles the Uganda-Kenya border, on a route that has never been walked before. The team will trek through thick montane forest, deep gorges and up Mount Elgon’s four peaks, to take on the challenge of a lifetime and to raise funds for Farm Africa.

Along the way, the team will visit Farm Africa projects in both Uganda and Kenya, providing them with the opportunity to see first-hand how the money they raise will positively impact the lives of farming families.

At the start of the trip, they will visit a project helping Ugandan farmers to harvest, process and store orange-fleshed sweet potatoes so they can earn more from their agricultural efforts.

To wrap up their trip, the team will visit the Growing Futures project, which helps young Kenyan farmers build profitable horticulture businesses.
