As Farm Africa continues to grow, with an aim of reaching 800,000 people in 2025, it will benefit from the expert guidance of Amar Inamdar, who works with businesses and entrepreneurs to imagine, create and grow markets that address our biggest social and environmental challenges. He brings a lifetime commitment to sustainable development.
Amar Inamdar commented:
“I’m both grateful and delighted to be joining the board of trustees of Farm Africa as Chair. Coming from East Africa, I’ve known about Farm Africa from its early years. I’ve always been impressed by its essence – to empower the entrepreneurial spirit of smallholder farmers – and its people.
“As we look forward, we build on a strong foundation, and I want to thank John for his contributions and commitment to Farm Africa as Chair. Our foundation will be increasingly important as farmers and the food systems on which we all depend are challenged by climate change. I wish John all the very best for the future. I am thankful to my co-trustees for this opportunity to serve, and to the whole Farm Africa team for their dedication, trust and support in this essential work.”
Amar succeeds John Reizenstein, who joined Farm Africa as a trustee ten years ago and has served as Chair since July 2019. John Reizenstein commented:
“I joined Farm Africa due to my belief that agriculture is the sector with the most potential to transform the lives of people living in eastern Africa. Ten years on, I remain convinced of this. Today, our mission is all the more important due to the escalating challenges facing rural communities including climate change, inflation, migration and tariffs.
“It has been a fantastic and rewarding experience, working with expert teams in eastern Africa and London, and visiting our projects to see the tangible benefits they help create.
“I’d like to congratulate Amar on his appointment as Chair of Farm Africa. I wish him as much fulfilment as I have experienced working with the trustees and the team, and every success in the role.”
