Kenyan youth group takes a leap forward

Farm Africa’s Baraka youth group has taken a big leap forward in farming technology, thanks to a loan from the Kenyan Youth Enterprise Development Fund (YEDF). The loan will make a big difference to their cabbage farming activities through the addition of modern farming equipment. It means they can now buy two large greenhouses, a drip irrigation system, and an extensive farmer’s kit, consisting of essential equipment, resources, training and insurance.

This package will allow the group to put its farming activities onto a much firmer footing. It also provides them with the potential to develop a successful and sustainable farming business.

Supporting youth enterprise

The loan to buy the equipment came from the YEDF’s Agri-Vijana scheme. This scheme aims to support enterprising young Kenyans in developing their agricultural businesses by providing interest-free loans to buy modern farming equipment.

We hope in a later report to bring you pictures, and news of the impact it has made for the Baraka Youth Group.
