Ugandan chilli farmers celebrate first major export

Chilli farmers in Lira, northern Uganda are celebrating their first major export, after selling five metric tonnes of dried chillies in bulk to buyers in Germany. The sacks of chillies left Lira for Kampala last weekend, where they will be sent onwards to their final destination.

Farm Africa's annual carol concert will take place virtually from 7pm on Wednesday 15 December 2021. Hosted by farmer and Farm Africa supporter, Will Evans, the evening will include carols by the London African Gospel Choir and the Sandra Scott Singing Ensemble. We will also have readings by our patron Michael Palin, NFU President Minette Batters and farmer and star of ‘Born Mucky – Life on the farm’, Ally Hunter Blair.

Farm Africa pays tribute to Sir Martin Wood

Farm Africa was deeply saddened to hear of the death of Sir Martin Wood OBE FRS DL. Sir Martin was the brother of the late Sir Michael Wood, who co-founded Farm Africa with David Campbell in 1985. Sir Martin was appointed president of Farm Africa in 1987, and had been a very strong supporter of the organisation.
