Cosine, Mondelez and Farm Africa join forces to help end hunger on World Food Day

16 October 2014

Cosine, the award-winning field marketing agency, and Mondelez are supporting the charity Farm Africa in its first foray into field marketing to mark this year’s World Food Day on Thursday 16 October.

The campaign aims to raise awareness and funds for Farm Africa by giving hungry commuters at five busy railway stations across the South East of England a free Mondelez Belvita breakfast biscuit.

Each biscuit is wrapped in a bespoke sleeve which encourages people to learn about Farm Africa’s work to end hunger and invites them to make a £3 text donation to the charity.

The campaign has been devised and delivered by Cosine, winners of the Field Marketing Gold Award 2013 and has been made possible thanks to the generosity of Mondelez which has donated 5,000 Belvita biscuits for the campaign.

Trained and branded ambassadors will be giving out biscuits to lucky commuters at St Albans, Bedford, Chelmsford, Harpenden and Royal Tunbridge Wells stations during rush hour, come rain or shine.

These delicious free treats will help commuters to stave off hunger pangs and will ask them to take a moment to learn about Farm Africa’s work and donate to help a mother in eastern Africa feed her children breakfast every day. While commuters wait for their trains they will also have the opportunity to learn more about Farm Africa’s work and to ask questions from on-hand charity representatives.

Commuters will be asked to text SEEDS to 70500 to donate £3 to Farm Africa.

Rachel Beckett, Head of Direct Marketing at Farm Africa explained, “We are really excited that Cosine and Mondelez have given our charity the opportunity to trial field marketing for the very first time. This is a valuable opportunity to raise the profile of Farm Africa and to generate much-needed income to help farmers in eastern Africa.”

Victoria Brandham, Sales Development Manager for Bee, the experiential service provided by Cosine UK added, “We are very proud to be delivering Farm Africa's first experiential activity in support of World Food Day. We’ve seen first hand the fantastic work that Farm Africa are capable of and we really believe in the difference they make. We are keen to help Farm Africa Give Hunger the Boot and help them to engage with a new audience.”
