Irrigation cooperatives are bringing communities together to combat climate extremes

Farm Africa has designed a Livelihood Promotion and Resilience Building project, funded by the Swedish government through WFP, to bring pastoralist communities (host and refugee) together to form irrigation cooperatives to address recurrent climate extremes and bring life back into degraded grasslands.

Urgent support is necessary to complement the already ongoing efforts by NGOS, governments and UN agencies, otherwise the desert locust crisis will lead to increased vulnerability of pastoralist and agro-pastoralists communities throughout the greater Horn of Africa.

Supporting Ugandan women to keep goats healthy through COVID-19 pandemic

With funding from Irish Aid, Farm Africa is working to ensure that more than 100 groups of pastoralist women in Karamoja in north-eastern Uganda, are able to keep their goats healthy throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

Waitrose providing financial support to farmers in Kenya amid COVID-19 pandemic

The Waitrose & Partners Foundation has unlocked £200,000 from its Global Fund to protect farming communities overseas adversely affected by the current COVID-19 pandemic. The package will include £88,000 in support to Waitrose’s suppliers in Kenya, with whom Farm Africa has been working since partnering with the Waitrose & Partners Foundation in 2017.
