Because Urban Agriculture is changing lives

DONATE TODAY >

Welcome to the Urban Agriculture project in Addis Ababa.

The capital of Ethiopia, Addis Ababa is a bustling city, but beneath its surface, families are struggling to make ends meet. The cost of living is soaring, and many households can't afford basic necessities. This is where Farm Africa's Urban Agriculture project comes in.

Through innovative techniques, we're helping urban communities grow their own vegetables and access cost-effective, nutritious food. Even better, our project doesn't require a lot of space - we repurpose plots of wasteland as urban farms and teach vertical gardening techniques using recycled materials to build gardens right in people's homes.

On the up and up

Participants in the project, like Sihen (pictured), learn how to build their own vertical garden and grow a variety of vegetables and herbs. They also learn how to make their own compost, which is great for the environment and helps their plants grow even better.

Thanks to the Urban Agriculture project, families in Addis Ababa have access to fresh, healthy food - and they're saving money, too.

But we want to do more. With your help, we can expand our work and bring innovative solutions to even more people living in poverty.

Yes, I want to donate today

Your donation can help us continue developing new and innovative ways for people living in poverty to thrive through farming. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of families in Addis Ababa and across eastern Africa.

This project is funded by Sida and is part of the Growth for the Future Programme.
