The New Angel, Notting Hill are victorious at the London leg of the Chefs Football Tournament

After repeated success, the team from the New Angel in Notting Hill were victorious in the third instalment of Farm Africa’s Chefs Football Tournament series. Taking on teams from some of London’s finest restaurants, there was much excitement in the air as the New Angel team beat their rival finalists, Restaurant Story 6-1.

Stephen Humphries, Head Chef at The New Angel, said: “We’ve won! It’s amazing that we even managed to reach the final so to win is a real bonus. The guys on my team have been great – although I probably should expect no less given how great they are at the restaurant. We’re just all pleased to be able to support a great charity, whilst also having fun and building on the already strong team spirit The New Angel has.”

Hosted in Vauxhall, the event was a wonderful opportunity to unite more chefs and restaurants in the bid to help end hunger – for good. And we were overwhelmed by the level of support shown by the participating teams: Bubbledogs & Kitchen Table, Carousel, City Social, Duck and Waffle, Lake District Farmers, London Capital Club, L’Ortolan, The New Angel, Restaurant Story, Roux at Parliament Square and Social Eating House.

Sandia Chang, Co-Owner of Bubbledogs & Kitchen Table explained why it is so important for the industry to back Farm Africa’s work when welcoming the teams to the tournament:

“In our industry, food is all we know. It just seems appropriate and right that we support Farm Africa. We understand how food can change lives as we do it every day of our lives.”

We look forward to hosting the second tournament of 2015 on the 5 July at the Lucozade Powerleague in Birmingham. To find out more visit www.farmafrica.org/chefsfootball
