Farm Africa's London Marathon heroes

Farm Africa’s London Marathon runners braved the 26.2 miles with the goal of helping build a prosperous rural Africa. Twelve runners from all over the world and walks of life came together to push themselves to the limits and raise over £37,500 for Farm Africa.

Here are a few of our awesome Farm Africa runners!

The Jogging Farmers

Farm Africa - Jogging farmers team

Together Stuart Roberts, Jamie Burrows, Adam Bedford, James Mills and Richard Potts are the “Jogging Farmers”.

The group was born out of a joke that spiralled out of control! Last June, on hearing that the UK farmers ‘could’ get larger subsidises after leaving the European Union, Jamie Burrows remarked “well we ‘could’ run a marathon…”

Fast forward to Marathon Day and the joke that formed the “Jogging Farmers” has raised more than laughs, with the group raising an astounding £31,000 for Farm Africa. Amazing!

“Can I thank you for giving me the opportunity to do the London Marathon? It was an incredible experience. Running on to Tower Bridge and being hit by a wall of sound is something that will stay with me for the rest of my life, ” commented Stuart Roberts.

Tim Jury

Farm Africa - London Marathon's runner Tim Jury
Sixty-three-year-old Sussex sheep farmer Tim Jury began running marathons for Farm Africa back in 2003 and hasn’t looked back since.

“This was my sixth and sadly last London marathon but was as great as ever in demonstrating the fantastic and heart-warming human spirit that resonates amongst runners and supporters alike.”

Tim is bowing out of the London Marathon with a bang and will be running a staggering 30 Marathons for Farm Africa in 2017.

Andrew Marshall

Andrew Marshall travelled all the way from his native Canada to represent Farm Africa at the London Marathon.

Empowerment and sustainability. The collective strength and support of the runners and crowd matched Farm Africa's objectives to a 'T'. It was a pleasure and an honour to participate
