Strengthening The First Mile
Small and medium agriculture businesses in East Africa play a vital role in connecting small-scale farming to wider markets, but their growth is held back by a lack of appropriate financial products. Farm Africa’s Maendeleo Agricultural Enterprise Fund (MAEF) addresses this critical financing gap by providing working capital and support in agronomy, business and marketing to rural enterprises.

Maendeleo Agricultural Technology Fund: Improving livelihoods through innovative partnerships
New technologies can increase agricultural production and improve the livelihoods of smallholder farmers in East Africa. But technology alone is not enough. Seven projects supported by FARM-Africa’s Mandeleo Agricultural Technology Fund (MATF) were studied to learn what else has to be in place for new technologies to be taken up by farmers. (May 2007)
