Gifts that give back

The festive season approaches and while things are far from ‘normal’, letting our nearest and dearest know we are thinking of them and sending loved ones thoughtful treats from afar is more important now than ever before. While we all try to get in the spirit, why not indulge more sustainably this year with our selection of edible, drinkable and enjoyable gifts which all give back to Farm Africa.

Farm Africa has partnerships with a selection of independent brands, which donate a percentage of sales to our programmes embedding sustainable farming and food production in eastern Africa. Every purchase not only helps to support smallholder farmers across our projects, but trains and teaches communities to protect and look after the surrounding environment for years to come; as well as adapting to the changing climates our world is continuously facing.

If you are in need of some gift or stocking filler inspiration then look no further! Ensure your gifts give back this year, whether you are supporting Ugandan chilli growers, Kenyan fish farmers or Ethiopian wild coffee harvesters. There really is something for all the family in our collection of delights with double the joy!

5th Season

Amidst the season of indulgence, keeping healthy is still important. 5th Season is encouraging more people to eat fruit by serving up delicious fruit bites. For every pack of 5th Season sold, 1p is donated to Farm Africa.

5th Season works with farmers to pick fresh fruit, which is then freeze-dried to preserve its natural flavour and over 90% of its nutritional value, meaning you can have a healthy snack wherever and whenever. No mess, no fuss, just 100% tasty fruit.

Advent of Change

Pioneering the UK’s first advent calendar with a charity behind each door, Advent of Change has expanded its festive feel-good offering to include children’s advent calendars, Christmas crackers and candles. Farm Africa is proud to be a part of the Advent of Change movement, with money raised from the sales of their Premium Advent Calendar, Christmas Crackers and Advent Candles going to support our projects in eastern Africa.

Cabrito Goat Meat

When choosing your feasting ingredients this year consider trying something new. Goat meat is sustainable, ethical, highly nutritious, low in calories and most importantly delicious. Cabrito Goat Meat is supporting Farm Africa this yuletide with a special goat meat box, including a selection of African inspired recipes from chef and all round goat expert James Whetlor. For every box sold £10 is donated directly to Farm Africa’s Livestock for livelihoods project.

Alongside a variety of delicious ethically sourced goat meat cuts, each box also includes a copy of James Whetlor's award winning book Goat: Cooking and Eating. With 100 dishes from James, plus a foreword by Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, and guest recipes from world-renowned chefs including Yotam Ottolenghi, Gill Meller, Neil Rankin and Jeremy Lee, Goat is a ground-breaking, bold cookbook. Essential reading for anyone with even a passing interest in food and the way we eat today, and set to be the definitive guide on the subject for years to come, Goat is a genre-defining book. Which supports Farm Africa with 50% of royalties donated.

Cullisse

Robert Mackenzie was inspired to set up Cullisse Highland Rapeseed Oil on his family's farm in the Scottish Highlands after visiting a Farm Africa sunflower project in Kenya in 2006. The versatile cold pressed rapeseed oil has a glorious golden yellow colour and a grassy flavour, a little like asparagus or fresh garden peas. It is ideal for all forms of cooking, baking, dipping and salad dressing.

Cullisse aim to achieve zero waste from the cold pressing and packaging processes, even feeding the by-product from the press to their own herd of cattle. The artisan Cullisse range now extends to eight different flavour combinations, including the popular Smoked Chilli, Garlic & Basil, inspired by a South African spice mix. For every litre of rapeseed oil sold Cullisse donates 20p to Farm Africa.

Honeywell Biscuit Co. donates 2% of the purchase price of each of their products to support Farm Africa, from biscuit advent calendars to baking kits or even tea and biscuit subscriptions! Browse their scrumptious seasonal range for mail order festive treats galore.
