Farm Africa announces a new tasty partnership with 5th Season

Farm Africa is excited to announce a new partnership with 5th Season, a company that is getting more people to eat fruit by serving up delicious fruit bites. For every pack of 5th Season sold, 1p will be donated to Farm Africa over the next three years.

5th Season works with farmers to pick fresh fruit, which is then freeze-dried to preserve its natural flavour and over 90% of its nutritional value, meaning you can have a healthy snack on the go. No mess, no fuss just 100% tasty fruit.

Today almost half of the world’s poor live in sub-Saharan Africa, the majority of who work in agriculture. Farm Africa reduces poverty in eastern Africa by helping farmers to grow more, sell more and sell for more. By providing resources, training and technical assistance, Farm Africa’s projects enable farmers to capitalise on their produce, so they can gain a higher income for their crop while protecting their local environment for generations to come.

Joseph, a farmer from Kenya, has benefitted from Farm Africa’s Growing Futures project. The project provides young farmers with training in agronomy and horticulture to give them the skills to produce high-value crops and grow their businesses:

“I got money, which I use to send my children to school and buy food. The nutrition of our family is better than it was before: we can now have a balanced diet. I have also been able to buy a piece of land and manage my fields. I have benefitted a lot from the project.”

5th Season has chosen to support Farm Africa because they want farming communities to thrive, not just survive. Co-founder of 5th Season, Tiffany Ulph commented:

“At 5th Season we want to make it easier for people to eat more fruit, so it's not only important for us to produce genuinely healthy products that consumers can trust but also to give something back to the environments and people that farm fruits and vegetables. So we are really excited about partnering with Farm Africa, a truly brilliant charity that does so much good in eastern Africa enabling farmers to be more sustainable to support their families.

It feels good to be helping consumers to make healthier choices whilst also helping others and the environment - it's so much more than just a pack on a shelf!"

Charlotte Senior, Corporate Partnerships Manager at Farm Africa commented:

“We’re so pleased to announce Farm Africa's partnership with the fresh new company 5th Season. Integrating doing good into the brand from the very start gives both 5th Season and their consumers the opportunity to invest in long-term solutions that drive sustainable change across eastern Africa. At Farm Africa we believe in the power of business to drive prosperity for smallholder farmers. We're delighted to work with 5th Season's support to help more farming communities develop their agricultural expertise, manage and preserve ecosystems and engage with thriving markets."
