Farm Africa congratulates Sir Michael Palin

Farm Africa has congratulated Sir Michael Palin on being knighted for services to travel, culture and geography in the New Years Honours list 2019.

Sir Michael Palin, who is Patron of Farm Africa, is an actor, broadcaster and writer. Having travelled extensively in Africa, Michael is a long-term supporter of Farm Africa's practical approach to enabling farmers and herders to improve their own livelihoods.

Nicolas Mounard, Chief Executive of Farm Africa, said: “On behalf of Farm Africa, I extend heartfelt congratulations to Michael Palin on being knighted. This honour recognises Michael’s insightful work highlighting the lives of people living in very different circumstances all over the world. We are very fortunate to have Michael as our patron and are grateful for his work showcasing the impact of Farm Africa's work helping rural communities across eastern Africa to thrive."

Sir Michael Palin has visited Farm Africa's projects, and brought our work to the attention of millions in many ways, including reporting from Farm Africa's work in Tigray in northern Ethiopia for BBC Radio 4's Today programme, and presenting two BBC Radio 4 appeals for Farm Africa.

Michael also recorded the voiceover for Farm Africa's video Driving prosperity through agriculture:
