Rachael used to harbour serious doubts about growing groundnuts. With support from Farm Africa, Rachael decided to shelve her doubts and start growing the crop. Since she made the change Rachael’s business has gone from strength to strength.

On Sunday 17 June, three of the world’s best chefs, Joan Roca, Eneko Atxa and Gaggan Anand, will join forces with Nicolas Mounard, Chief Executive of Farm Africa, to launch Chefs for Change, a movement that bridges the gap between two very different worlds: high-end cuisine and international development.

With funding from the Visegrad group countries – Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia and Poland – Farm Africa is embarking on a new project with the social enterprise Ten Senses Africa (TSA) to help thousands of cashew farmers in coastal Kenya.

Farm Africa has received a grant from the UK government to extend its FoodTrade project until November 2018. The project will continue to help Ugandan and Tanzanian farmers aggregate rice, maize and beans and sell them collectively to export markets. The eight-month extension will support cooperatives of small-scale farmers in establishing long-term trading relationships with major buyers.
With funding from the IKEA Foundation through AGRA, Farm Africa is supporting 50,000 farmers in Embu and Tharaka Nithi in Kenya to promote regenerative agriculture methods which build farmers’ resilience to climate extremes, improve soil health and boost yields, enabling farmers to protect their land, and their livelihoods.
