This World Food Day on 16 October 2022, millions of people across eastern Africa are facing a severe hunger crisis as an ongoing drought causes the driest conditions seen in decades and worsens widespread food shortages.
Farm Africa is raising funds to support smallholder farmers in eastern Africa to grow and sell enough food to support their families, and adapt to climate change.
To mark World Food Day, all donations made to Farm Africa will be doubled* thanks to a generous group of Farm Africa supporters.
Get in touch or download our fundraising kit for more information and lots of fundraising ideas to help you make the most of this opportunity. It can be as simple as a dress-down-day, as competitive as a pub quiz or as fancy as a fundraising dinner. All funds raised in any way will be matched - there's no better time to get involved.
Over 80% of people in eastern Africa rely on agriculture for their income. Yet four years of failed rains have caused severe drought in the Horn of Africa. An estimated 100 million people are expected to face high levels of acute food insecurity in East Africa by the end of the year.
You can help change this.
Farm Africa helps farmers make the most of their land while strengthening access to markets, allowing farmers to generate a higher income from higher quality produce. By helping farmers adopt improved farming techniques and gain access to drought-tolerant seeds, they can become more resilient to climate extremes and better able to withstand shocks.
The productivity of my crops has improved since these trainings – for example, my coffee yields are high despite the drought, thanks to mulching, which retains water. My income increased, I have been able to build myself a house and will be able to educate my children to a high level.

Agriculture has the power to change lives and with your support, we can help more farmers grow enough to feed their families and earn a decent income.
Don't miss the chance to double your donation and increase the impact of your support.
