Food for Good is bringing the food and hospitality industry together for a programme of exciting events and initiatives in support of Farm Africa.

The challenges and adventures undertaken by supporters from across the industry have captured the imagination of the media, further raising the profile of Food for Good and the impact it is having across eastern Africa.

You can find out more about challenges and events undertaken in recent months by clicking the links below and exploring the fantastic media coverage which they have received.

The Bale Mountains Challenge

In November 2015, Farm Africa's chairman Richard Macdonald led a group of senior members of the UK food industry in a 117km trek in Ethiopia's Bale Mountains. Not satisfied with trekking at high altitude, the team scaled four peaks in the eight day trip, including Ethiopia's second highest, Tullu Demtu.

And not only did the team smash their £100,000 target, but Just Giving announced that Moy Park's Alan Gibson made it into the top 1% of fundraisers in the UK after he personally raised £31,000 for Farm Africa!

The trip was covered in Meat Info, and Alan Gibson's spectacular fundraising efforts were reported in the Belfast Telegraph, Farming Life, and Business Eye.

The Big Beehive Build

3 days, 9 women and 90 beehives to build. At Farm Africa, we call that a challenge! One that a group of senior women from the UK food industry absolutely nailed. Working alongside the Erri community in Tanzania the group built an apiary of Langstroth beehives to kick-start profitable and sustainable honey farming businesses for the Erri beekeeping group. If that wasn't challenging enough the group also had to reach a £50,000 fundraising target.

This industry leader challenge was covered in numerous media, including The Grocer, International Supermarket News, Food Manufacture, Basingstoke Gazette, the Exmouth Journal and on BBC Radio Berkshire.

Chef's Football Tournament 2014

The Chefs Football Tournament goes from strength to strength with this year's footballing fundraiser in Birmingham raising over £2,700 for Food for Good. The tournament is the brainchild of Paul Foster, Head Chef at The Dining Room at the three AA red star Mallory Court Hotel, near Royal Leamington Spa.

The tournament was covered in leading restaurant-focused titles and media, including Big Hospitality, Caterer, Licensee and Hotelier News and Staff Canteen.
