We understand that everyone’s situation is different, so if you have another question – or if there is anything you’d like to talk to us about – please don’t hesitate to contact us on 020 7430 0440, or you can email remember@farmafrica.org.
Put simply, if you don’t make a Will, your assets could go to people you never intended to benefit, such as the tax man. It could be more expensive for solicitors to sort out your estate after you’re gone, making it worth less. Much better to sort your Will out now and give yourself the peace of mind.
Of course. You don’t have to get in touch or even let us know that you’ve decided to leave us a legacy. And, if you change your mind at any time, you certainly don’t need to tell us.
Leaving money to charity in your Will isn’t just for the rich and famous. Any size of gift, or a percentage of whatever is left after you have taken care of your family and friends, will help us achieve our vision of a prosperous rural Africa.
Some people worry that their family might be upset if they leave money to charity, but most families are proud, particularly if they know that supporting farmers in Africa is a cause close to your heart.
We hope that you’re inspired to remember Farm Africa in your Will, but if you’d like to remember other charities too it’s easy to do and your solicitor will be able to help.
You can include a gift to Farm Africa in an existing Will by using the enclosed Codicil Form. Simply fill it in and give it to your solicitor. Please do not amend your Will yourself as it could become invalid.
We’ve been working in Africa for over 30 years now and we plan to be there as long as it takes to bring prosperity. When the time comes, your gift will help make this happen. If you’d like to see a copy of our latest accounts please get in touch with a member of our team.
You can leave a residuary legacy, which is a percentage of what’s left after your other responsibilities are taken care of, or a pecuniary legacy, which is a specific amount of money. Your solicitor will be able to advise you.
We always recommend that you use a solicitor. Simply phone them and make an appointment.
