The Great African Welly Walk

Children in wellies sitting on a low wall

This autumn, schools across the UK are pulling on their wellies and organising sponsored welly walks to raise money for Farm Africa. You can join them by planning your own Welly Walk today!

Together we're aiming to walk 16,000 miles - all the way around Africa!

What are you waiting for? Dust off your wellies and get walking so your pupils can raise money to help farmers in eastern Africa give their children a better start in life.

The Great African Welly Walk in four easy steps:

Choose a day to hold your sponsored walk

Plan your route and work out how far your pupils will walk.

Give out sponsorship forms

Send a letter or email to tell parents about the Great African Welly Walk. Download and photocopy our sponsor form and give one to each pupil so they can ask friends and family to donate.

Explore and learn about Africa

Use our online resources and free lesson plans to help your pupils explore and learn about Africa. You can also download our fundraising totaliser poster to keep track of how many miles you've walked and how much money you've raised.

Send us your donation

When you have completed your Great African Welly Walk, collect the sponsorship money from your pupils and make your donation online at www.farmafrica.org/donate.

Remember, we want to collectively walk 16,000 miles, all the way around Africa! Calculate how far
your pupils walk by multiplying the length of your route by the number of people taking part. For example, if 30 pupils and 2 teachers walked one mile, then your total is 32 welly miles. Don’t forget to let us know your total when you send in your donation!
