London Marathon 2013

Our London Marathon runners have done a range of fundraising activities in a bid to reach and exceed their fundraising targets

Jonny Dixon

Jonny DixonJonny has been doing some extreme ways of fundraising for the London Marathon. Waxing has been very successful for him, with prices starting at £20 for a wax strip on his leg to £50 for a go at his chest.

Alex Grounds

Alex GroundsAlex did a bake and plant sale on Saturday 23 March at her parents local village hall. Not only did friends and neighbours help baking, but Alex's sister came home from university for the Easter break and was recruited as sous chef. Alex raised an amazing £490.30.

Tim Jury

Tim JuryTim is running the London Marathon in a chicken suit, recently testing it out in the Hastings half marathon. He is doing the marathon as part of his 60th birthday celebrations later this year. We wish him the best of luck.

Rosie Marfleet

Rosie has hosted three fundraising dinner parties for 18 people, which replicated the formal dinners that she enjoyed at university in Durham. Rules included mandatory wearing of gowns, fines for use of mobile phones or the lack of a tie, and no-hands-dessert was compulsory.

One dinner included an auction of memorabilia and various games which raised over £500. She says: "Creating a reminiscent, money-can’t-buy experience for people seems to be a successful fundraising technique".

Peter Ruddick

Peter RuddickAs part of Peter's fundraising, he has hosted several dinner parties where each guest has paid to attend, all have been very successful. As part of his marathon training Peter ran the Wokingham half marathon.
