Letegziar is now looking forward to a brighter future, thanks to her sheep.
In Tigray, where land is steeply sloping, the soil is poor and rainfall erratic, it is a daily struggle to grow food.
Letegziar used to work very hard as a labourer for little money and was constantly worried about her family's future.
“I used to borrow money from relatives and neighbours to cover medical expenses and buy clothes for my children.”
But her life changed when she joined Farm Africa's project in Tigray. She was given three sheep and all the necessary training on how to keep them healthy and how to build a house for them. Over the last 14 months her three sheep have already had eight lambs.
By selling some of the offspring Letegziar will be able to earn enough to keep her four children in school and buy medicine for them. Also, with the additional income, she is planning to buy a cow and get involved in a dairy production business, which will further boost her income.
Your gift today could help provide another woman with three sheep so she too can build a brighter future for her family.
Like all Farm Africa's projects, our focus is on sustainable change. Letegziar passed a couple of her lambs to another woman in the village so the project keeps growing and your gift keeps on giving.
